Are online wills a good idea?
Most of us know on some level that a will is important - but it
can also be time-consuming and expensive, as well as forcing us to
think about things we'd usually rather ignore. For this reason,
more and more people are turning to services such as online
wills.
But do online wills really work?
The problem with online wills is that, while they offer a
template for a will, it can be difficult to express your wishes
through them if you don't know the necessary legal jargon. One
mistake could have devastating repercussions for your loved ones
when you're no longer around to help.
Online wills may be appropriate for simple situations where you
do not have many assets to be distributed - but it is still
impossible to tell if your wishes will be carried out if you don't
have someone qualified to give legal advice to look over it.
Your last will and testament is too important to leave up to
online will services. If you feel you cannot afford to pay for a
solicitor to draft or check over your will, there are options
available to you. To find out more, read our free Wills guide.
