Section 75 Consumer Credit Act

Section 75, Consumer Credit Act 1974 – what it means

Have you ever purchased a product or service which turned out to be faulty or not as advertised, but had problems getting a refund from the retailer or service provider? Maybe you purchased something online which never showed up, or from a company which went into administration?

If you paid for it with a credit card and it cost anywhere from £100 to £30,000, then under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you were legally eligible to claim that money back from your credit card supplier.

Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 is there to protect customers from losing out to fly-by-night retailers and providers, and credit card companies are legally bound to do business by it.

So don't lose out on money you could claim back. For more about Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, read our free Section 75 Claims guide.
