What is the Section 75 Agreement?
If you've ever used your credit card to make an purchase costing
anywhere from £100 to £30,000 which later turned out to be
unsatisfactory, the Section 75 agreement - part of the
Consumer Credit Act 1974 - grants you extra protection under the
law with regard to refunds.
Essentially, the Section 75 agreement states that if you have
difficulty getting your money refunded from the retailer or service
provider - for example, if they are an unresponsive online seller,
or have gone out of business - you can claim that money from your
credit card company instead.
Abiding by the Section 75 agreement is a legal requirement for
anyone providing credit card services, so your credit card provider
must take your claim seriously.
