Credit Consumer Act 1974

What is the Credit Consumer Act 1974?

Did you know that under the Credit Consumer Act 1974, you're entitled to seek a refund from your credit card supplier if you cannot get one from the retailer?

Section 75 of the Credit Consumer Act 1974 states that any product or service which cost between £100 and £30,000 and was faulty, fell short of expectations or was never delivered can be claimed for.

So if you bought something on the internet which never showed up, or paid for a holiday from hell with a fly-by-night company which vanished into thin air, the Credit Consumer Act 1974 allows you to get your money refunded through other channels.

The credit card companies don't like it, but it's a legal right. For more on how to claim refunds under the Credit Consumer Act 1974, check out our free Section 75 Claims guide.
