1974 Consumer Credit Act

What does the 1974 Consumer Credit Act mean for you?

The 1974 Consumer Credit Act covers many different consumer credit issues, but the part of it which is of most practical use to you is probably Section 75.

Section 75 of the 1974 Consumer Credit Act allows you to claim a full refund from your credit card provider on any unsatisfactory product or service between £100 and £30,000. If the retailer or service provider is hard to deal with or has gone into administration, the 1974 Consumer Credit Act allows you an extra layer of protection.

Many credit card companies would prefer people didn't know about the 1974 Consumer Credit Act, but it's the law. For more advice about how to claim your refund under the 1974 Consumer Credit Act, check out our free Section 75 Claims guide.
