Dealing with problems with used cars
Buying a secondhand vehicle is an experience that is full of
many potential dangers and pitfalls. Many people do not know where
to turn and what rights they have if something goes wrong with a
recently purchased secondhand vehicle, potentially leaving them
£1000s out of pocket.
But your rights when buying a used car are the same as when you
buy any other goods. These rights vary depending on where you
bought the vehicle from but the basic principle applies - if the
car isn't up to the standard you expected, then you have the right
to compensation be it via a refund, repair or replacement.
If you do find a problem with a vehicle soon after you purchased
it, it is vital to act as quickly as possible. In many cases your
claim will depend on the condition of the vehicle at the time of
sale. Because the condition of a secondhand vehicle varies greatly,
it will be difficult to prove that there is a genuine complaint if
the vehicle has seen a lot of use.
Read on to find out how to deal with a problematic secondhand
vehicle purchased from a dealer.

"I just had to put pen to paper and write to say I'm more than delighted with my settlement that you won me back from my PPI I had with Lloyds TSB. The Claim Forms were simple to fill in. It was a breeze"
