Continuing Care checklist

Help with the Continuing Care checklist

The Continuing Care checklist is a set of criteria that must be met in order for an elderly person to be eligible for the NHS's Continuing Care scheme.

This comes into play when a person must go into care for medical reasons which require them to have round-the-clock nursing support.

The Continuing Care checklist states that, in order to be able to receive funding for their care home fees, they must have medical problems which affect their life extensively and are the primary reason which they need to go into a care home.

Also on the Continuing Care checklist is that they need assistance with their medical needs which could not be reasonably expected to be provided by the local social services.

However, even if you feel that an elderly loved one meets all of the necessities on the Continuing Care checklist, the sad truth is that many assessments are performed incorrectly and leave those who should be receiving NHS help funding their own care home fees instead.
