Frequently Asked Questions
Which mortgage charges can I claim for?
Arrears charges can appear on your mortgage statement under many
different guises such as "arrears charge", "late payment charge",
"non-payment fee", "missed direct debit" and "default charge".
They will usually be between £30 and £40. If you notice a charge on
your statement which you are unsure of contact your lender and ask
them what it was for - you may be able to reclaim it.
Do I need to make a Subject Access Request (SAR) to get
a list of my mortgage arrears charges?
Not necessarily. A SAR involves a lot of work for your lender,
they have to collate a large amount of information and post it all
out to you. Whereas if your request is simply for a list of
charges, they can supply this list at the click of a button.
How long does a claim take?
Companies have eight weeks from the when they receive your
complaint to provide you with a full response.
Can I claim interest on mortgage arrears
charges?
Yes. You are entitled to claim 8% statutory interest on each
charge.

"I just had to put pen to paper and write to say I'm more than delighted with my settlement that you won me back from my PPI I had with Lloyds TSB. The Claim Forms were simple to fill in. It was a breeze"
