Mis-sold mobile phone contracts - The rules

Does your mobile phone complaint relate to one of the following?

Ofcom have provided rules in which mobile phone providers must follow to avoid mis-selling mobile phone contracts. Providers must:

  • not deliberately mis-sell mobile phone contracts or services;
  • ensure that the consumer wishes to enter into a contract and that they are authorised to do so;
  • ensure that consumers are fully informed and given the correct information in order for them to make an informed decision at the point of sale;
  • make sure that any cash back deals offered by the retailers are not restrictive in their terms and conditions;
  • carry out due diligence checks on their retailers.
