Gatwick Airport delays and your options
Flight delays at Gatwick or any other airport are a fact of
life. Some reasons that are more legitimate than others however.
There is a huge difference between overbooked flights and extreme
weather conditions for instance.
If you have encountered extreme delays that resulted in a flight
cancellation, or an overnight stay, you should first contact the
airline that sold you your ticket, not Gatwick airport. To make a
claim for flight cancellation you should follow the airline
customer relations procedure as described on their website. See our
FREE GUIDE on how to claim flight delay compensation for more
information.
Should your efforts fail you may contact the Air Transport Users
Council on 020 7240 6061, or visit complaints@auc.org.uk.
You may also decide to pursue your claim further in your local
county court. Please see our free GUIDE TO THE SMALL CLAIMS
COURT.
If you experienced Gatwick flight delays, did you buy
your tickets with a credit card?
If your flight tickets were purchased or even partly paid
for using a credit card and they cost more than £100, then
under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you may be able
to claim compensation directly from your credit card
company to cover the costs of your Gatwick airport flight
delays.
