How to claim compensation for flight cancellation
Useful Tips
If you have suffered extreme delays that resulted in a flight
cancellation, or an overnight stay, you should first contact the
airline from whom you purchased your ticket, not the airport you
flew from. Always check the airline's website for their
policy on flight cancellation and compensation.
Describe what happened in detail, the length of your delay and
the reasons given for the flight cancellation. Were you left
in the airport or did you require overnight accommodation at your
expense? Tell them what it cost you and what you expect in
compensation.
To make a claim for flight cancellation compensation in the
event your flight was delayed and you were denied boarding, you
should follow the airline's customer relations procedure as
described on their website, or contact the Air Transport Users
Council on 020 7240 6061 , or visit
complaints@auc.org.uk.
You also have the legal right to pursue a claim in your local
county court. Please see our free GUIDE TO THE SMALL
CLAIMS COURT.
If you experienced a flight cancellation, did you buy
your tickets with a credit card?
If you bought your flight tickets, or partly paid
for them using a credit card, and they cost £100 or more, then
according to Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you can
claim compensation directly from your credit card
company to cover the costs of your flight
cancellation.

claim please visit our Section 75 Claims guide.
