What are my consumer rights when returning faulty goods?
Your consumer rights regarding faulty goods are actually fairly
simple, despite many shops and businesses attempting to mislead you
and avoid taking responsibility for the products they sell.
Basically, if you purchase faulty goods from a retailer,
consumer rights laid out in the Sale of Goods Act 1979 state that
it is the retailer who must address the problem.
This can mean several things. If you return the faulty goods to
them within a reasonable amount of time, it is your right as a
consumer to demand a refund. Nonetheless, if you waited too long
and are no longer entitled to a refund, they must still offer you
to replace or repair your faulty goods FOR FREE provided they were
faulty when you bought them.
Don't let untrustworthy retailers confuse you about your
consumer rights. To find out more about returning faulty goods,
make sure you read our free Consumer Rights guide.
