How to make your utility overcharging Complaint
STEP ONE: WRITE TO THE UTILITY COMPANY
First of all, you must complain to the company directly. This
can either be done by phone or in writing. Every company should
have a complaints procedure in place; this can usually be found on
their website or you can request a copy from them.
When you write to them, remember to include as much documentary
evidence as possible to support your case (e.g. bills, dated meter
readings.)
Explain clearly that you have been overcharged and you wish for
the matter to be looked into and for your account to be
refunded.
STEP TWO: REJECTED? WRITE TO THEM AGAIN
If your complaint is rejected then write to the company again,
this time asking for a more senior person in the company to look at
it.
You should have received a complaint reference number after your
initial enquiry so make sure to include this on any further
correspondence. When following up a complaint also include details
of the steps you have already taken to resolve the matter.
