Government urges councils to curb neighbour disputes
By Kati Dijane, 7th December 2009
Nuisance neighbours face a crackdown after the Communities
Secretary proposed that councils must ensure that the demands of
local people are granted. With the issuing of petitions regarding
the locals' concerns, councils have to cooperate with the community
by finding ways to alleviate or even demolish social problems.
The government's delegation to the councils would have to be
resulted positively through the eyes of the locals who have to be
guaranteed the well being on their standards of living. Councils
have to respond on all petitions granted to them, especially the
four main concerns, which constitute the underperforming school,
alcohol related crime, underperforming hospitals and anti- social
behaviour such as that caused by nuisance neighbours.
Councils should find ways to ensure effective action is taken
place on the issue of underperforming schools, which include
handing out warning notices as soon as possible to improve the
standards of learning facilities or consequently implement closure
if schools fail to comply.
Over indulging in alcohol could result in noisy neighbours,
cause neighbour disputes and even lead to social detriment,
including death. Ways of improving this problem have to be
considered by the councils and they include placing restrictions on
public drinking in certain areas by establishing a Designated
Public Place Order.
Anti social behaviour, which include excessive noise leading to
neighbours complaining are of concerns to locals and ways to
improve this could be by councils working hand in hand with the
police to intervene where necessary.
Poor hygiene is the key concern that locals have on
underperforming hospitals. Councils should consider delegating a
scrutiny committee to investigate such cases.
The Communities Secretary John Denham said, "We are giving
petition power real teeth so people know it's worth taking the time
to make their point and get things done."

"I just had to put pen to paper and write to say I'm more than delighted with my settlement that you won me back from my PPI I had with Lloyds TSB. The Claim Forms were simple to fill in. It was a breeze"
