Care Home Fees
How to Avoid Care Home Fees
Have you or a family member had to pay for full or partial care
home fees? If so, you could be entitled to compensation worth
thousands of pounds.

The NHS currently provides a system whereby if you require 24
hour continuing care or nursing care, you will likely be eligible
for funding from the Primary Care Trust or Local Health
Authority.
However, there are many people who meet the criteria for
continuing healthcare, but who have had to fund their care out of
their own pocket, running up debts of thousands of pounds and in
some cases, losing their own homes to help fund their care.
If you have savings over the threshold of £23,000, you
are deemed to be able to fund the care entirely by
yourself, but this is NOT the case if you require nursing
or continuing NHS healthcare. Several local health authorities have
got this wrong in many cases, whereby Local Health Boards in Wales
and Primary Care Trusts in England are not applying the correct
legal test.
