How to ask for a Section 75 refund for botched building jobs
If no compensation is forthcoming following your complaint to
the building firm then it may still be possible to be compensated
providing you paid for some of the work with a credit card.
If the work cost between £100 and £30,000 and it was paid either
in full or partly by your credit card then, under Section
75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, you can claim
compensation from your credit card company.
Section 75 essentially gives extra protection to consumers who
have been left short-changed after the purchase of faulty,
mis-described or non-existent goods or services - and
substandard building work qualifies.
You can find out how to make a claim under Section 75 in our full and
comprehensive Section 75 claims guide.

"I just had to put pen to paper and write to say I'm more than delighted with my settlement that you won me back from my PPI I had with Lloyds TSB. The Claim Forms were simple to fill in. It was a breeze"
