Can I get my bank charges reclaimed?
Bank charges are imposed on customers for a wide variety of
reasons, such as exceeding their overdraft limits, or direct debit
transactions or cheques being paid with insufficient funds. At one
point, many customers were able to have these bank charges
reclaimed if they were considered to be unfair.
After a test case in November 2009, the Supreme Court ruled in
favour of banks on the issue, and it is now very difficult to get
bank charges reclaimed if they involve unauthorised overdrafts.
However, it is still possible to have other bank charges
